August Pugmire Update!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Aug 28, 2019 at 06:20:18 PM

Hello good dogs!

From Eddy Webb:

Realms of Pugmire Update (August 2019)
Hey there, dogs and cats! It's been an exciting couple of months, so let's catch everyone up!

PIRATES OFF TO LAYOUT
Big thanks to everyone who sent in playtest comments! I was able to wrap those up and get it to editing. A couple of weeks ago it came back from editing, I made a handful of additional changes, and now it's off to layout! It's going to dock in the harbor for a bit while the rest of the art rolls in, but we're ahead of schedule, so that isn't a concern right now.

STRETCH GOAL SAILING AHEAD
Meanwhile, I just got back the first draft of the stretch goal adventure! It's going to focus on Dalmation Cove, slotting between the second and third adventures in Pirates of Pugmire. It's a totally optional adventure, but if players are looking for more to do, this is a great option! It's being written by Josh Heath, who worked on "Adventures for Curious Cats," so this ship is in safe hands!

THE FUTURE OF PUGMIRE
As I mentioned back in the June update, I'm mulling over the next steps for Pugmire. To be clear, there are already a few projects in progress. One of them is the tentatively titled "Creating in the Realms of Pugmire." It's a combination of my thoughts about writing for Pugmire, some design advice, a little errata, and details on how Pugmire relates to the D&D 5e system. For folks who are thinking of contributing to Canis Minor, or Guides who just want their games of Pugmire and Mau to feel more "authentic," this will be a cool little resource to help out.

Further, I've been working with some eager companies on Pugmire translations! I'll hold off on details until the respective companies are ready to launch, but I'm excited to see how Pugmire looks in different languages.

Beyond that? I've pitched some more projects to Onyx Path, and I'm chatting with some other business partners as well. Keep a weather eye on the horizon for more news!

June Pugmire Update!

Hello Very Good Dogs!

Realms of Pugmire Update (June 2019) by Eddy Webb

Wow, that was an exciting month, wasn't it? Now that Pirates of Pugmire has docked safely in harbor, it's time to look at the Realms of Pugmire as a whole!

PIRATES PLAYTESTING TO END SOON
I'm going to wrap up the Pirates of Pugmire playtesting soon, so I can update the manuscript and send it off to editing. I'll be closing the form on JULY 1. So, if you haven't had a chance to send off your comments, now's the time! Here's the link again for those who missed it: https://forms.gle/G78gYBjX5EkNKFMQ9

REFRESHED REALMS OF PUGMIRE WEBSITE
In case you didn't know, the Realms of Pugmire website has been refreshed. Now there are clear pages for all your Pugmire RPG needs, as well as Mau. In addition, we have a new "More Pugmire" page for all related products, such as Fetch Quest, our interactive audio drama, and more! Check it out at realmsofpugmire.com!

TAKING A NAP
Between the Fetch Quest launch, wrapping up the Mau stretch goal books, and the Pirates of Pugmire Kickstarter, there's been a lot happening in the Realms! We have some stuff happening behind the scenes, but that means things will be a bit quiet as we focus on wrapping up Pirates of Pugmire and working on the stretch goal adventure. We're also going to take the opportunity to think about what's coming next in the Realms. We'll definitely have more Pugmire goodness coming in future, so stay tuned!

And here's our latest Kickstarter!

March 23rd, 2018, N-Day — the day the world changed forever. Following the tragic explosion of the space station Galatea in orbit, people around the world began displaying superhuman abilities of an unexplained nature, starting with New York City firefighter Randel Portman, later known as “the Fireman.” In the days and weeks following, dozens more people manifested powers, leading to a worldwide state of emergency. It was soon clear that the world would never quite be the same again, as the miraculous and the extraordinary became the order of the day.

Now, ten years later, in 2028, the world is indeed a different place, but perhaps not as changed as some hoped or feared. Some two thousand people worldwide have “erupted” into what is believed to be a new evolutionary subspecies of humanity, Homo sapiens novus, commonly known as “novas” and less flatteringly as “aberrants.” Their presence and powers have changed the world and may offer hope for a better future, or a looming threat greater than any humanity has ever faced — or both.

Launching on Kickstarter on July 2nd at 2:00 PM EDT - TRINITY CONTINUUM: ABERRANT.

Coming Tuesday, May 21: Pirates of Pugmire KS!
almost 5 years ago – Mon, May 20, 2019 at 05:11:21 PM

Avast, my hearties!

Eddy Webb here:

At last, our voyage is about to set sail. Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21st, at 2pm Eastern US time, will be the start of the PIRATES OF PUGMIRE KICKSTARTER!

Pirates of Pugmire is a chronicle sourcebook for both Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau. It’s usable in either game, or as part of a joint experience. Some highlights include:

* Two new species for players to enjoy: lizards and birds
* Six new callings, including two for dogs and two for cats
* Rules for building, sailing, and sinking ships
* A trove of new allies, enemies, and treasures
* Information on Waterdog Port and Port Matthew
* “Going on the Account,” a chronicle of three new adventures, taking characters from 1st through 6th level

(You can also hear Eddy discuss the writing and design of Pirates of Pugmire on this week's Onyx Pathcast podcast on your favorite podcast venues, or here on : https://onyxpathcast.podbean.com/)

Mock-up of cover design, not final.
Mock-up of cover design, not final.

We need you to help us create a  7" x 10" hardcover between 150-200 pages, with a full-color interior and endpapers on high quality paper stock. We also want to get at least one print run into traditional distribution and available for sale at game and hobby stores. Throughout this Kickstarter campaign, we will be posting complete previews of the Pirates of Pugmire manuscript as backer-only updates.

To get you excited about the book, here's a small snippet of pirate fiction I wrote!

---

The deck of the Wet Nose was abuzz with activity. The crew desperately adjusted sails, pulled ropes, and turned wheels — anything to try and steer the course of the ship away from the looming thick fog sitting dead ahead of them. Captain Pug calmly walked among the crew, staring at the Fog when she wasn’t barking the occasional order. Eventually, the blue sky took up more and more of the view. Noctis returned to his captain, who was still staring ahead. “Ma’am, shouldn’t you be happy? We’ve cleared the Fog.”

“We have. But you’ve forgotten one thing.”

At that precise moment, the water all around the ship started to boil. The acidic water splashed onto the desk, irritating the eyes and skin of all the crew as they tried to figure out what was going on. Noctis ran to the side of the ship and stuck his head into the spray, shielding his eyes to get a better look. He caught a glimpse of something dark and rubbery slithering under the water before it disappeared again.

Then he heard a loud keening wail, and a giant squid-like creature lurched out of the water in front of the ship. Its tentacles waved menacingly in the air as it reared up, as large as the ship itself.

Captain Pug stared calmly at the monstrosity. “You forgot the kraken, number one.”

April Pugmire Update!
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 24, 2019 at 06:47:33 PM

Hello Good Dogs!

Realms of Pugmire Update (April 2019) from Eddy Webb

NEW MAU RELEASES!

The Mau stretch goal train just keeps on steaming ahead! Last month, we released the Roll of Good Dogs and Excellent Cats to our purr-fect Mau Kickstarter backers. And now we're sending out TWO more!
First is our collection of three Monarchies of Mau adventures, which are (naturally) called Adventures for Curious Cats! They range from an introductory story, “Murder Most Foul,” wherein players unravel a possible conspiracy threatening to undermine the monarchies, to “The Lost Library of Amosen,” an eldritch tale of mystery and Unseen abominations, to “A Lizard’s Tale,” in which players accompany a gecko companion to ruins of the Old Ones for treasures, glory, and allegiances.
Next is our anthology, Tales of Excellent Cats. Written by Aaron Rosenberg, Elaine Cunningham, Monica Valentinelli, Beth Cato, Errick A. Nunnally, Joseph D. Carriker, Jr., Sabrina Vourvoulias, ZZ Claybourne, Steven S. Long, LaShawn M. Wanak, Erin M. Evans, Lee Murray, Karen Bovenmyer, and Lucy A. Snyder, these short stories featuring a wide variety of cunning and curious cats will hopefully delight and entertain you, and maybe even give you ideas for your own chronicles.
Once our eligible Kickstarter backers have their files and we collect some errata, we'll be putting them up for sale, so keep an eye out!

DIGITAL DOGS

Meanwhile, the Realms have been going increasingly digital! No, I'm not talking about everyone's favorite non-existent game CyberPug 3.0.3.0. Instead, two exciting digital Pugmire products are on the horizon!
One of the original stretch goals from the very first Pugmire Kickstarter campaign was an interactive audio drama released by Earplay. And now it's in soft launch! There are still some bugs to work out, which is why we haven't been shouting it from the rooftops just yet, but it is available right now on iOS via the Earplay app. Our friends over there are handling everything, so if you have any questions or you can't wait and want to check it out, head on over to earplay.com!
Also, now that our Fetch Quest backers have gotten their nice, shiny copy of the card game, we've worked quietly behind the scenes to offer an online version! In a few weeks you'll be able to buy a copy of Fetch Quest and play it with people online using Roll20.com. We're putting together a live streaming event to show everyone how it works, so stay tuned for more information!

Get ready to weigh anchor and head to the Acid Sea, because Pirates of Pugmire will be the next Onyx Path Kickstarter! I have a complete pre-edited manuscript to put into the paws of eager Kickstarter backers to review as the campaign goes on, and we're getting some great-looking art to show you what this book can be! Whether you're a fan of Pugmire or a player in the Monarchies of Mau, this book will be a complete chronicle that both dogs and cats can enjoy! I've already squawked like a parrot about this, so I'll save it for when we go live, mateys!

March Pugmire Update!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Mar 26, 2019 at 12:56:00 PM

Hello Good Dogs!

Realms of Pugmire Update (March 2019) from Eddy Webb

Wow, March flew by almost as fast as February. But there are still some great updates for you in the Realms of Pugmire!

PIRATES OF PUGMIRE

Can you see that speck on the horizon? Is it an island? No, it's Pirates of Pugmire coming ever closer into view! The final drafts are in, so I've reviewed everything, and tweaked all the prose to my liking. All that's left is for me to write the fiction pieces, and we'll have a complete pre-edited manuscript ready for eager Kickstarter hands.

I'm also deep in art discussions with Rich Thomas, who has been my first mate in all things artistic. If you love the art in the Realms of Pugmire, he's a big part of that, working hand-in-glove with art director Mike Chaney. Rich has a lot of great ideas that will make Pirates really stand out and strike the right balance of fun and adventurous. And it means we have fun conversations like deciding what kinds of clothing birds wear and how to make a jewelry for turtles.

Like previous Realms of Pugmire Kickstarters, I'll give you an early access version of the game for backers to use. Unlike previous Kickstarters, however, it won't be a truncated version -- it'll be the whole manuscript! So you'll get to see everything we're putting in right up front. If you don't remember from last month, it'll contain:

  •  Playable lizard and bird characters!
  •  Six new callings!
  •  Rules for sailing and fighting on the Acid Sea!
  •  Treasure and gunpowder weapons!
  •  Three complete adventures!
  •  Information on Waterdog Port, Port Matthew, and all new locations!

NEW RELEASE

One of the Mau stretch goals, the Roll of Good Dogs and Excellent Cats, is now available! This is actually a product for both Pugmire AND Monarchies of Mau. Check it out! https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/265399/Roll-Of-Good-Dogs-and-Excellent-Cats?affiliate_id=4451

Dive into the world of Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau with this handy compendium. Inside, you’ll find everything you need to start an adventure of your own. Some highlights of Roll of Good Dogs and Excellent Cats include:

  •  A variety of ready-to-play cat and dog characters
  •  Adventuring groups and their origins
  •  Story suggestions for short sessions or campaigns

 Which path will you take?
